Music of the body and the present time

I mentioned the body, the primitive, and the present in my answer earlier to the question of 'what is music?'. This piece -- the historical and religious details of which are interesting -- and this particular performance, very much make my case.

I have a more satisfying version, with liner notes, on my CD of New World Symphonies: Baroque Music From Latin America. This piece is named Hanaq Pachap Kusikuynin (anon). I find it very powerful. Don't miss the 'amen' with the last drum-beats.
